Some dogs and especially older dogs eating a kibble diet with grain or grain-free that are high in carbohydrates require more carbohydrate-digesting enzymes, fat and various types of protein-digesting enzymes.

Lipase enzyme breaks down fats into free fatty acids so they can be easily digested and pass through the intestinal barrier.
